PROJECT SCOPEBook Design
Olafur Eliasson is known for his use of light and color, and this book reflects just that by using vibrant gradients and pages made out of holographic vinyl. His work is paired with a short story by Ted Chiang about a mathematician who realizes that math is not absolute. The artwork in the book is curated to mirror the character’s existential crisis, beginning with structured geometric sculptures and gradually transitioning to ambient light installations.
The book is bound using Coptic and French link stitching, allowing it to form a circle when fully opened. This structure mirrors Eliassons’s artistic interest in perception and infinity and how Chiang challenges linear truths, much like how a circle has no beginning or end.
